all-kinds-of-magic:

Many people stateside know about la tanière du dragon in Disneyland Paris, and even more know about the short walk through of Sleeping Beauty’s castle in California, but not as many know about the extensive castle tour that not only inspired la tanière du dragon, but also was the only attraction to ever feature characters from The Black Cauldron.

Enter: Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour in Tokyo Disneyland. This attraction ran 20 years and was an in depth walk through and storyline based in the Tokyo Disneyland castle. While the video is in Japanese, the gist of the attraction starts in the room with the pictures of heroes. As the guide introduces the heroes, the magic mirror interrupts and explains that the villains are the real heroes, and the guests were welcomed to explore the castle and see for themselves. After seeing some rather un-Disney creepy moments, the attraction concludes with an encounter with a dragon that leads to the final encounter with the Horned King. (OMG I KNOW, RIGHT?!) As the Horned King threatens to send the guests to Hell via Satan’s Kiln, and proceeds to raise the dead, a hero is chosen to wield the magic sword and bring down the Horned King. That special guest would then receive a medal. (or, as in the video, all of the guests would receive the medal)

Horned King?! Dragon?! Castle Walk through?! Oh my. Japan gets all of the cool stuff.

My sister and I will be there in exactly one week!
